Nepal has given the green light for China’s Three Gorges International Corp to build a major new dam on the West Seti River.

According to reports from Reuters, Nepal’s investment board cleared the project yesterday, almost three years after a parliamentary panel in the country first approved the project.

The dam project is expected to generate 750MW of power once complete in 2021-22. Part of the power generated is expected to be given free to locals with the rest sold to Nepal.
