The Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and the Institution of Civil Engineers have launched a new website to share information on reservoir incidents.

The Reservoir Incidents Knowledge Base brings together case studies of all incidents reported since post-incident reporting was introduced. It forms part of the wider Reservoir Safety Reform Programme.

The website is designed to make it easier for engineers, operators and others in the dams and reservoirs sector to access lessons from past events. Features include searchable and filterable case studies, downloadable data, printable reports, and links to reservoir safety guidance and resources.

Incident reporting is currently not mandatory in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Regulators there encourage operators who experience incidents or near misses to share information that may benefit others.

The database can be accessed at www.rikbase.org.uk.
