Norconsult Sweden has been awarded a contract by Vattenfall to carry out seven dam safety assessments and fourteen in-depth inspections during the period 2026–2028.
Dam safety assessments include technical analyses, risk assessments, and design reviews to verify compliance with applicable safety requirements. In-depth inspections focus on the physical condition of dams and include measurements, sampling, and functional checks to identify damage or deviations that could affect safety.
The work aims to reduce risk and support the safe and reliable operation of hydropower facilities.
Norconsult and Vattenfall have an established working relationship in the areas of hydropower and dam safety. According to Norconsult, the contract will support continued development of dam safety expertise and services.
Norconsult conducts approximately 30 dam safety assessments and about 100 in-depth inspections each year for dam owners across Sweden.
