Construction began on the project in November 2003 and more than US$220M has been invested in the plant. The management board has submitted detailed construction and installation deadlines, to ensure that the plant will be connected to the national electricity network on time.
The project’s lake has a storage capacity of 1050Mm3, with water saving having began in July 2006, two years earlier than planned. This has, in turn, helped to increase the electricity output of three hydroelectric plants downstream: La Ly, Se San 3 and Se San 3A.
