Kencana Energy has started commercial operations at the 10MW Salu Noling mini hydropower plant in Indonesia.

The facility, located in Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, achieved its commercial operation date on 13 August 2026. It was developed and is operated by Kencana Energy subsidiary PT Tiara Tirta Energi.

Salu Noling uses flows from the Noling River and operates as a run-of-river facility without a large reservoir. It is expected to generate 56.94GWh of electricity annually.

The project increases Kencana Energy’s total installed generating capacity from 55MW to 65MW. The company said the additional generation could increase its annual revenue by up to 11%.

Kencana Energy said the start of operations would support the continued development of electricity infrastructure in Indonesia.
