DEWA International has signed a memorandum of understanding with EDF Middle East to explore potential joint participation in pumped storage hydropower, solar, wind and battery energy storage projects.
The agreement covers cooperation with France’s EDF Power Solutions and the identification of potential investments in the Middle East and North Africa region and other international markets. No specific pumped storage projects, capacities or investment commitments were announced.
The MoU was one of four signed by DEWA International during the 28th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2026). The other agreements cover project development and construction, investment in operating clean energy assets, and technical consultancy.
An MoU with China Energy International Group will assess the company’s potential role as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for major energy, water and infrastructure projects. It also covers cooperation in project development and EPC services.
Under a separate agreement, DEWA International and UK-based Capital Dynamics will explore joint investment in operational clean energy assets in Europe and the establishment of an investment vehicle for future clean energy infrastructure investments.
The fourth MoU, with Tata Consultancy Services, will assess potential technical consultancy support in technology strategy, information technology and operational technology (IT/OT) integration, and asset performance management.
Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence and Vice Chairman of DEWA International, signed the agreements in the presence of Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Chairman of DEWA International.
