San Esteban II
Underground Hydroelectric Power Plant
The San Esteban II Hydroelectric Power Plant described in this article is intended to increase the power generating capacity of this fall through the construction of a new underground station located within the rocky mass supporting the left-hand side of the dam. The contract for construction of the civil work for said power plant was awarded by Iberdrola to the company Obras Subterráneas, S.A. (OSSA) for a value around €40M, with a term of execution spanning 36 months. At present, more than 90% of the work planned has been executed and completion is expected for the first quarter of next year.
